Olympic Flame “Ares” Blue traveled to Saratoga Springs, NY (near Albany) to take part in the 21st annual May Day Classic soccer tournament on the weekend of May 3-5, 2019.  Many top teams from the US northeast attended this popular tournament, including 2 highly-regarded academy programs.  Just like in the MASC tournament 3 weeks earlier, "Ares" Blue came out incredibly focused and strong, dictating the play with a fantastic display of possession and physical dominance.  "Ares" Blue first faced local team Clifton Park Steamers, posting a very impressive 6-0 victory against a team much better than the score suggests.  The absolute highlight of the weekend was the second game, when "Ares" Blue faced off against Black Rock FC, an exclusive residential academy program from Massachusetts which hand-selects players from around the world for its program, and is one of the highest-ranked teams in the US northeast.  In an absolutely fantastic match, "Ares" Blue went head to head with Black Rock FC and emerged with an incredible 1-0 victory, becoming tournament favourite and quickly the talk of the U16 division.  "Ares" Blue returned to action the next day and faced a very strong GPS Syracuse Elite academy team (official affiliate of German powerhouse FC Bayern Munich), and after a very closely played game, emerged with a 4-0 victory.  The final match of the tournament saw "Ares" Blue face off against a game but over-matched Addison United team from Illinois, and close out the tournament with a 7-0 victory.  "Ares" Blue finished the tournament undefeated with 4-0-0 record without conceding a single goal to win the May Day Classic tournament!  That makes for 2 extremely impressive US tournament victories to start the 2019 outdoor season!  "Ares" Blue now turns it's attention to the upcoming 2019 CSL season, where it hopes to continue its excellent start to the outdoor season in league, CSL Cup and Ontario Cup play.  Congratulations to "Ares" Blue and good luck in the upcoming season.
